Create For You

I think that as a musician it’s really easy to get discouraged by setbacks, lineup changes, audience fluctuations, etc.
I’m guilty of it too, and I tend to fixate on those obstacles. This past year, with all the changes that occurred, I absolutely have taken every set back to heart. I’ve always struggled with anxiety, but I’ve seen it take over my mind in the last few months. I’m calling myself out to say that it’s bullshit to let people who hurt you in the past, or obstacles you’ve faced prior, control what you do in the future.
It’s easy to get discouraged when it seems like too few people care about what you do as an artist. But you have to remember that you create for yourself. Whether you’re a musician, a painter, a photographer, a dancer, or anything else. You make your art for you. You share it with others to release it into the universe in the hopes that someone out there will connect with it in the same way you did as you were creating it.
Making an impact on even one person with your craft is so damn special. Once you’ve created something from your heart, and you show it to someone else, and they feel it as much as you do, that’s magic in my eyes. Focus on that. Stay optimistic and stay passionate about what you do. That’s the most important thing when you’re making art.
Happy Saturday, Stormchasers. 🌪
