Show Day Morning Thoughts

Despite having gone to sleep at nearly 2:00 in the morning after a late night pre-show practice, I’m up at 6:25 with a rush of adrenaline. I have so many things to get done before the show, and although I tried getting them done yesterday, there are always a few things left until the last minute: getting our merch box stocked and organized, making a will call list, and going to the bank to exchange the $1000 worth of ticket money into bigger bills, all before actually getting ready for the show, and packing up the car before I meet the band for one final run through of our set, and we head to the venue. Show days are always hectic from the minute I wake up in the morning, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. This show is exciting in particular. It’s my first show with the new lineup, the first time I’m playing at the Marquis Theater, and we’re playing two new songs that no one has ever heard before. I have a bad habit of picturing how our shows will go for weeks beforehand, and then when they don’t go exactly how I imagined them, I become disappointed. So for this show, I’ve told myself not to think about it, to get done everything that I need to, and to just get on that stage and have the time of my life. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Sharone and the Wind will tear the Marquis to shreds tonight.
